Effect of oxides on aluminum quality
Author:Aluminum Sheeting for Trailers_Aluminum Trailer Siding Sheets_Mingsheng Aluminum Update time:2025-01-23 23:05:28In terms of casting performance, oxides reduce the fluidity of aluminum alloy melt and the ability to fill the mold, and will cause aluminum alloy to produce scattered shrinkage cavities and ingot cracks. Oxides can directly form slag inclusions, oxide films, and defects in the ingot, thus reducing the yield of the ingot.
In terms of surface and internal quality, oxides are an important reason for the delamination and many surface defects of aluminum processed products. During heat treatment and processing, the presence of oxides can promote the formation of secondary porosity and bubbles.
In terms of mechanical properties, as the degree of contamination of aluminum alloy by oxides increases, the strength limit of aluminum alloy will decrease, and the elongation will also decrease, especially the dynamic mechanical properties of transverse elongation. Among them, the impact toughness, fatigue strength and fracture toughness are severely reduced. Finally, oxides will also reduce the corrosion resistance of aluminum alloy.
