There are various forms of intersections on multi-lane general highways, and their traffic control methods are divided into signalised and unsignalised. When the intersecting roads are two multi-lane general highways, sometimes overpasses can be set up depending on the traffic volume. The intersections involved here are mainly level crossing intersections of multi-lane ordinary highways and other highways. Traffic sign markings at intersections of multi-lane ordinary highways are likely to include three types: prohibition, warning and wayfinding.

Multi-lane general road signalised intersections. Firstly, a yellow, diamond-shaped traffic control sign ahead is placed some distance away still from the intersection to alert road users that there is an intersection ahead. The layout message of the sign, which is a forward signalised sign consisting of a red, yellow and green circular pattern, alerts road users to slow down and prepare to stop. Care should be taken to ensure adequate visibility when placing forward signal signs. On general purpose highways with multiple lanes of separated traffic, two forward signal signs should be placed, one on the right side of the highway and one on the median, so that vehicles in different lanes do not block each other's view. Usually, auxiliary signs can also be set up below the forward traffic control sign, such as intersecting road name signs, a rectangular sign below the diamond-shaped sign, yellow flashing lights above the diamond-shaped sign lights; other textual information can also be provided, such as speed limits. In addition, BE PREPARED TO STOP signs can be used prior to an intersection to alert road users that there may be a stop at the signalised intersection ahead, to drive with caution and to prepare for a stop.

Flashing light signal intersections are commonly used at intersections with two-lane general purpose roads on multi-lane general purpose roads with separated travel. These intersections are generally two-way stop intersections, where vehicles on the multi-lane highway do not have to stop, vehicles travelling straight on the intersecting road must stop, and vehicles transitioning to the multi-lane highway must give way to vehicles travelling straight on the multi-lane highway. Yellow flashing lights are directed towards vehicles travelling on the multi-lane highway and can be seen from a long distance to warn vehicles on the multi-lane highway to be aware of the intersection and slow down appropriately. Generally, to minimise the impact on vehicles travelling straight ahead, dedicated left-turn and right-turn lanes are usually provided on multi-lane highways at intersections. For left-turning vehicles, signs such as Yield, No Entry, etc. are provided for the same purpose as the opening controls described above. In addition, a No Parking sign is provided on the outside of the right-turn-only lane to prevent interference with vehicles travelling straight ahead.

For unsignalised intersections on multi-lane general highways, the establishment of traffic signs and markings is basically the same as for signalised intersections. In a certain distance before the intersection of the right side of the highway, the establishment of an intersection of yellow diamond-shaped warning signs. Warning signs generally use patterns to indicate the type of intersection, such as cross intersections, intersections, etc.. Similarly, above or below the intersection warning sign, the name of the intersection road and the speed limit and other auxiliary signs. When a dedicated left or right turn lane is provided on a multi-lane highway at an intersection, the markings are established in much the same way as for openings and signals.

‘ JCT’ signs indicate intersections, “ BUSINESS” indicates that the intersection goes out to a commercial area, and yellow signs warn of bumps in the road.

Lane lines are usually white dashed lines, the right edge of the pavement is often marked with a solid white line (or yellow when approaching intersections or entrances), and the left edge of the pavement is marked with a solid yellow line. It should be noted that, in the multi-lane separated travelling highway composite curve section, if the longitudinal slope is larger, the curve is longer, and in rural areas and to consider slow vehicles, such as trailers and agricultural vehicles, generally can be considered in the direction of the uphill side of the highway outside the establishment of a climbing lane. Generally, multi-lane highways are of a high standard of alignment and have sufficient capacity to carry the volume of traffic and goods vehicle traffic involved. Therefore, under normal circumstances, a climbing lane on a multi-lane highway has a limited role to play. However, if the growth of traffic in the long term is taken into account, it is likely to be more economical to build with climbing lanes on long longitudinal sections than to add them in the future. Lane markings between the climbing lane and the travelling lanes are dashed white; solid white lines may also be provided to prohibit vehicles from changing lanes within the climbing lane.
