A. Why trailer aluminum tool box needs regular maintenance?

Canada's climate is changeable, with severe cold and snowy winters and humid and rainy summers, trailer aluminum toolboxes exposed to the outdoors for a long time are susceptible to the following problems:

- Risk of corrosion: snowmelt salts, acids in rainwater accelerate the oxidation of aluminum.

- Seal failure: Extreme temperature difference will easily lead to the aging of seals, which will cause water leakage problems.

- Mechanical wear and tear: Frequent opening and closing of doors and road bumps may cause hinges and locks to loosen.

Regular maintenance can reduce 80% of the maintenance cost, extend the service life of aluminum toolbox 5-10 years!

B, 7 daily maintenance key skills (with operating steps)

1. Surface cleaning: 1 time per week to prevent stains and corrosion

- Tools: soft bristle brush, neutral cleaner (such as Simple Green), water, microfiber cloth.

- Steps:

- Rinse the surface of the aluminum toolbox with clean water to remove mud and salt stains.

- Dilute the neutral cleaner (1:10 ratio) and lightly brush stubborn stains with a soft-bristled brush.

- Rinse thoroughly and dry with a dry cloth to avoid water residue.

- Contraindication: Prohibit the use of steel wire ball, acidic cleaners (such as vinegar) or high-pressure water gun direct spray!

2. Seal maintenance: 1 time per quarter to prevent water leakage

- Check focus: whether the seal is cracked, deformed or lost elasticity.

- Maintenance method:

- Apply silicone-based lubricant (e.g. WD-40 Specialist Silicone) to the seal surface.

- If deterioration is found, replacement brand (e.g. Trim-Lok or Steele Rubber) is recommended.

3. Hinge and lock lubrication: check once a month.

- Recommended products: White lithium grease (for low temperatures), Teflon dry film lubricant (anti-sticking dust).

- Operation:

- After removing the old grease, spray the lubricant on the hinge shaft and latch.

- Repeatedly open and close the door 10 times to ensure even lubrication.

4. Chassis rust prevention treatment: 2 times a year (spring and fall)

- Exclusive Canadian program:

- Spring: Use Fluid Film or Krown rust prevention spray, focusing on weld seams and screw holes.

- Fall: Check undercarriage for cuts and scrapes and reapply Rust-Oleum rust preventive primer.

5. Drainage hole unclogging: must be done before the rainy season!

- Tools: Fine wire or can of compressed air.

- Locate the drain hole at the bottom of the box (usually 5-8mm in diameter).

- Remove sediment with wire or blow through with air pressure.

6. Load balance check: after each loading

- Canadian Regulations Tip:

- Load no more than 60% of the total weight on one side (to avoid structural deformation of the aluminum toolbox).

- Monitor in real time with an on-board scale (e.g. Sherline Trailer Scales).

7. Special winter maintenance

- Anti-freezing measures:

- Lock heating: install Truckfridge lock heating sleeves (-40°C applicable).

- Tire protection: Use TireCoat spray to prevent aluminum wheels from freezing and sticking to steel bolts.

C. When do I need professional servicing?

Contact a service provider immediately if any of the following occurs

- Dents over 2cm in the case (may damage structural strength).

- Door gaps exceeding 5mm (standard should be less than 3mm).

- Signs of galvanic corrosion (white powdery substance on the aluminum surface).
